Facial Sunscreen for Sensitive Skin – 5 Signs You Need It

    RockyBy RockyMarch 21, 2023Updated:March 22, 2023No Comments4 Mins Read

Choosing the right sunscreen can be difficult if you don’t quite know what you’re doing. Complicating factors like reactive skin mean that products like facial sunscreen for sensitive skin are needed. The problem is that not everyone realises they have sensitive skin – so how can you tell?

Well, it can manifest in a variety of different ways, with the triggers changing from person to person. So, to provide some clarity on the topic, we now investigate 5 of the most common signs that you need a sensitive skin sunscreen.

Do you need facial sunscreen for sensitive skin?

As we just mentioned, there are a number of different ways that sensitive skin issues present themselves, so we now look at 5 of the most prevalent.

    Sign #1 – Dryness & Flakiness

One of the first signs that you have sensitive skin is dryness. It’s something that often rears its head after a hot bath or a day out in the sun. It could be the result of a reaction to skin care products or any number of other factors that dry out the skin. Flakiness is the next step up, which usually follows a bout of soreness.

    Sign #2 – Continuous Irritation

If you find that you’re continuously having to cope with skin that feels irritated and tender, it’s a big sign that you need facial sunscreen for sensitive skin. This is basically your skin telling you that it doesn’t like how you’re maintaining it, meaning that it usually leads to a change in your skincare routine.

Sign #3 – Roughness of Texture

Another indicator that your skin is not as happy and healthy as it should be is when you find that it’s rough to the touch. Healthy skin is typically smooth under the fingertips, but distressed skin is typically in the process of healing, which is why it feels as rough as it does.

Sign #4 – Feelings of Tightness

When your skin is sensitive, it can also present as tightness. Usually caused by a lack of hydration, it’s something that affects almost 99% of sensitive skin sufferers. Healthy skin is typically supple and flexible, meaning that it’s moist and stretchy. This is something that disappears when sensitivity occurs.

Sign #5 – You Get Regular Breakouts

Last on our list are those annoying breakouts that occur when you least want them to be around. Often occurring just before a job interview or a hot date, it happens due to an excess of oil, dead skin and/or oil on the surface of the skin. Again, it’s a major flag that points toward the need for specialist types of sunscreen.

Is Facial Sunscreen For Sensitive Skin For You?

If you have any of the issues listed above or you seem to get a skin reaction when you’re using regular sunscreen, the chances are, you need a sensitive skin product.

Those who don’t account for their sensitive skin issues when choosing sunscreen are making a rod for their own backs, as they’re almost certain to suffer. Even if it means having a bottle for you and another for the rest of the family, it means everyone (including you) gets the protection they need.

If you don’t, you can look forward to breakouts, flare-ups and other unpleasantness that’s just so unnecessary. So be sure to take note of your own skin needs when buying sun protection, as there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all sunscreen.

There’s a surprising amount of people who simply put up with the misery of sensitive skin when they don’t need to, so you should do your best not to be one of them.
