IN ADDITION to tourist attractions, culinary is the main destination for travelers. Various culinary delights become the main distinctive image of a particular country. Like in Mexico, which is famous for its traditional food, namely tacos.
Taco or globaltacotruck tacos are a type of specialty food from Mexico made from tortilla sheets which are then filled with various types of delicious and tempting fillings.
Tacos usually contain beef, pork, chicken, vegetables, various seafood, a mixture of cheese and various additional sauces, then folded or wrapped in corn tortillas.
There are also many variations of taco sauces and other toppings. For example, salsa sauce, avocado, cilantro, guacamole sauce, tomatoes, sliced onions and lettuce leaves.
The origin of the food named taco is unknown. However, some theories say that the word taco originated in the 18th century in silver mines in Mexico.
The meaning of the name taco apparently refers to and has a relationship with one of the explosives.
This type of explosive commonly used for mine excavation does consist of gunpowder which is then placed on a piece of paper which will later be placed between rocks.
While quoting The Culture Trip, there are also sources that say that tacos come from the word tlahco, Nahuatl language which means “in the middle”.
Tacos are popular even today but who would have thought that the existence of tacos has been quite famous since the 19th century.
It is said that some experts say that tacos have existed since 1000-500 BC. At that time it turned out that tortilla skin was used as a spoon for the filling.
Variants of this taco also have various flavors. A popular taco variant is taco De Canasta or soft steamed corn tortilla with meat and vegetable fillings.
In addition, there are tacos De Flauta or tacos with crispy tortillas with meat inside and lettuce on the outside to be enjoyed together.
The types of taco fillings are also very diverse. Meat fillings include grilled, hot sauce, thin meat, salted meat, sausage, crispy fried lard, fried fish, or fried shrimp. Often tacos are eaten like burgers, which are enjoyed without using a spoon or fork and directly devoured by hand.
While most people choose to eat tacos at all times regardless of their meal schedule, Mexicans have their own traditions.
